Post Village and Town

Hi Team,
Can you give some more insight into the villages please.
Coming back to Tekumel after a long break and without starting all the possible research to answer my own question, as you may have done it already.

I had always thought that the rural village would have been owned by a clan/religion/state. The people in the village would take care of all the associated jobs in running the place.
But I get the feel from a quick scan of Kurt Hills that just like a city a village still has a selection of clans doing there traditional occupation. Is this correct?

I was looking at the Fief info and was sort of expecting to see info on ownership of the fief - clan/religion/state. Maybe I missed it.

Thanks

Yes, that is our understanding after discussing this specific question with the Foundation. Villages have far fewer different clans than cities, and their clan compounds tend to be smaller, but single-clan villages are quite uncommon. Village headmen are in fact low-ranking members of the Imperial bureaucracy.

Fiefs are (normally) managed by individuals, not by clans or religions or 'states' (I assume here that you're referring to the Provinces). Of course individual fiefholders' clans or temples or provincial governors exert varying degrees on influence over them. Those individuals are appointed by the Emperor (or occasionally by a Provincial Governor or temple or clan by prior arrangement with the Empire). We made a conscious decision to refrain from identifying the specific fief-holders, to give GMs a bit more influence over their own campaigns. About 5 fiefholders are identified by name in the Kurt Hills Atlas (for example, Lady Maluél hiViridáme of the Golden Sunburst Clan, hex 3511) and there is also a discussion of Fiefs and fiefholders in that book.
