Post New Tékumel Fanzine: "The Excellent Travelling Volume"
on: December 9, 2014, 08:08

Hi all,

Looks like this hasn't been mentioned here yet, so here goes:

There's a new Tékumel paper-only fanzine out there. It's called "The Excellent Travelling Volume" and it's being produced by James Maliszewski.
I just ordered its first incarnation and am looking forwards to holding it in my hands.

Of course, producing anything paper-only is utterly insane an approach these days, but that's exactly why Maliszewski should be commended for it. We need more beautiful whimsy in our world.

So may I include a link to said fanzine? Yes, of course.

Long live Tékumel.

Thanks for posting about that, nofare! Tekumel fans need to know this stuff.

The Excellent Travelling Volume fanzine is now listed on our 'Shop' tab.

Very nice to see things alive. I won't get it until it turns to PDF, which I think that it eventually will, but in the meantime I wish them the best of luck. 🙂

I ordered a copy back in early December, 2014. I have still not received it. Don't get to excited about it, yet.

I've got my copy, and a fine little fanzine it is too. It is for the original EPT rules, and there is some stuff in it that is only for that system. Such as stats for some creatures not in the original rules. On the othe hand there are other things in it which you can happily ignore the stats and use Bethorm stats instead, such as an interesting selection of patrons. I have a minor niggle about the adventure in the fanzine, I can't really use it where I'm planning to run my adventures. Hey ho, you can't have everything.
For reference I see that I ordered my copy on the 2nd December and it arrived on the 3rd January, but then I'm in the UK so that's not bad.

PS I don't think it will ever officially be turned into a PDF

I received my copy a couple of days ago. It is a nice little zine. The author states explicitly that he intends it to never be seen in pdf format. He's deliberately going for the old school home brew zine thing. He's succeeded. Nice job.

He is also clear that it will not be published on a schedule. New issues will come out when he thinks he has enough material for an issue.

Its easy to make promises and statements and harder to keep them. I think that unless its done for an informal group without the wish to reach to new audiences then the fanzine will most likely become a PDF sooner or later.

I got my copy couple of days ago. I like it. It contains plenty of useful information in a thankfully compact package. Stats are easy to convert to any system and the art looks good. I especially liked the section in which several patrons were described along with adventures the players might encounter with their new employers.

Issue #2 is now available. It includes a never before published map and key for the city of Sokatis (and a portion of its Underworld), based on Barker's notes provided by the Foundation. I just ordered myself a copy: http://grognardia.blogspot.ca/p/blog-page.html
