The new Nóm drawing is now on DeviantArt: http://fav.me/d7klyge Next up is the Ngrútha!

Today I'm also working on the 'Campaign Premise' section of GM chapter of the rulebook.

RESEARCH ASSISTANCE NEEDED!

As I've repeatedly said, Bethorm is a direct conversion from Sword & Glory and Gardasiyal to my Pocket Universe system. But I'm also doing everything I can to improve portions of those books that weren't strictly 'rules'. For example, Prof. Barker's lists of poisons in Gardasiyal stated their effective dose in grams, and their price per gram - so players had to do math to figure out to much they needed to buy. I've done the math for you in Bethorm, so instead it shows the effective dose in grams and the price *per dose*.

Another improvement I'd like to make concerns 'obscure treasures'. Obscure magic items and related artifacts are mentioned all through the novels and the previous rulebooks - but they never made it to the treasure listings in the games. For example, the Eye of Retaining The Past Forever mentions a 'viewing device or projector... but these are rare'. In fact they're not just rare - they're not listed in the treasure tables at all. Neither do any of the random treasure tables include the '25mm cubes containing a colored 3-dimensional image' that are created by that Eye. Or a victim trapped by an Excellent Ruby Eye. Or batteries for an Aircar. Or any of dozens of other cool, quirky objects that were mentioned in passing.

Of course a GM can choose to simply add such things manually, but even then, there is no convenient list of what they are that the GM can refer to. That's where YOU come in!

If you have the time and inclination, please take a look through the various Tekumel books and online references, find canon items that you haven't seen listed in any of the random treasure tables in any of the previous Tekumel-based RPGs, and post about them on this thread. Please include the book name and page number, or a link to the web site where they're mentioned, so I can verify them. Everyone who contributes will get their name listed in a special 'Research Volunteers' section of the Bethorm rulebook. Thanks in advance!

I know it's not treasure, but what about the spell for "putting things around the corner" from Man of Gold? I don't recall that spell from the S&G/G spell lists.

Here's another example of the kind of thing I'm looking for:

One of the 'miniature weapons' carried by a Ngoro.
A fragment of Hluss carapace encrusted with gems
A Mihalli Ball of Immediate Eventuation
A blue lantern of the Ssu
One of those translating marbles (I've read about them, but don't remember what they're called).

And these need to be 'canon'. Unofficial stuff won't make the list.

How about the tubeway car "disks" that where marked with ancient inscriptions of the locations of the stations/cities to be travelled to( in Flamesong, lost by Thu'un the Nininyal). A mighty artifact indeed, highly coveted.

There might be a spyglass or two in some forgotten underworld treasure trove. Like the one made by Hársan's friend from lenses in The Man of Gold chapter one.

Maybe too obvious, The Man of Gold or a piece of The Egg of the World(I know your busy). I hope these are what your looking for.

Keep up the good work. I can't wait to get my copy of Bethorm. Thanks take care.

"How about the tubeway car "disks"" <- Chris Western

Yes! That';s the kind of thing.

Pieces of the Egg of the World - or Keys to the Blue Room - are perhaps too rare and specific, and really should only be placed by the GM. But maybe not, I'll have to think about that. And spyglasses might be too 'mundane', but again, worthy of consideration.

I'll be a bit absent for the next 4 days, due to North Texas RPG Con in Dallas/Fort Worth. I'm running a Bethorm session there. I'll try to get a little art done while I'm sitting around there. I'll be back to posting daily on Monday he 9th.

Brett also suggested the High Cartography devices of the Ancients. Another excellent one!

Can't sleep in my hotel room at NTRPGCon, so I just excerpted basic information on clans and lineages from Prof. Barker's Tekumel Sourcebook into Bethorm. Friday afternoon I hope to have some time free to do some sketching in preparation for the next few illustrations.
